Row to Recovery: For Cancer Survivors and Caregivers, Los Gatos
My husband is a 2-year cancer survivor. While he is in good health now we are always, ALWAYS conscious that every day is a gift. If it hadn't been for his diligent doctor my husband would not have been diagnosed so early and our story would have been vastly different.
We strive to keep cancer awareness at the forefront with our friends and family. This past weekend we participated in a local event on the Lexington Reservoir called "Row to Recovery." It was a great morning to meet fellow cancer survivors and caregivers in the vicinity and also learn how to row with other first timers.
The goal of this Los Gatos Rowing Club is to form a team that can compete in San Diego later this fall. The next free Row to Recovery will be held on July 14th, from 10:30-2:00 pm at the Los Gatos Rowing Club by the Lexinton Reservoir. To learn more about this event and register, click here. And to learn more about Row for The Cure, click here to take you to the home page and learn more about how rowing became a way to honor our loved ones stricken with cancer and how you can raise awareness and funding to find a cure.
Before going out on the water, we learned the basics of rowing on these machines.
It takes a crew to haul the skull back and forth from the reservoir.
A mix of experienced and neophyte rowers fill an 8-man skull.
