Once again, we are pleased to feature a post from our favorite fitness and nutrition expert, Adrienne Robinson. For more information on how to find the perfect balance for your body, visit BodyzenBalance.
The New Year usually finds us making a commitment to do better on a lot of things, the least of which is our diet. As the beginning of the year propels us to set goals, so does the beginning of each day. One of the best changes you can make is to begin your day with breakfast. Breakfast literally breaks the fast between your last meal the previous evening and the following morning. It is usually the longest amount of time in our daily cycle that passes without eating. Eating breakfast kicks starts your metabolism, allowing your body to operate more efficiently with enough fuel in the tank. This spares your body from using muscle tissue for fuel. Breakfast also helps to regulate your blood sugar levels. This stops the mid-morning crash, which typically is immediately followed by consuming sugary and processed foods such as donuts, bagels, candy, or that extra large coffee drink with sugar ingredients, all of which provide no nutritive value. As the New Year begins and you commit to doing better, do your body a favor and enhance your energy level by eating breakfast. Many reports have revealed that it is the most important meal of the day. My humble opinion agrees.
